McKenna was on her break from working at her family bookstore. She knew that her brother was working. She didn’t like the fact that, he never shared anything that had to do with work. She knew that if it was important to him that he knew that it would be important to her too. She loved her brother and she didn’t want any harm to befall him. She was browsing through the fiction section when the door opened and her parents went to meet the people who just walked in. McKenna saw the expression on her parents face she knew that something was wrong. She rushed over to her dad and mom side.
“Dad, Mom what wrong?” McKenna asked.
“Your brother is dead.” Carlisle told his daughter. He knew that she wasn’t going to believe it at first, but in time she would accept it.
“What happened?” McKenna asked. She wasn’t letting the shock hit just yet.
“Your brother was walking home when a car ran a red light and hit him. The man behind the wheel was a drunk driver. I am sorry, but he is dead.” The man told her. McKenna had tears forming in her eyes. She didn’t want to believe it.
“Sorry, but I don’t believe it.” McKenna said. The man knew that this might happen so he brought something that he knew that would convince her. He pulled an item from his pocket. He held it up for them to see. McKenna recognized it. It was the bracelet that she made for him. Nathan would never cut it off. The man handed it to her. McKenna took a closer look and she saw that it was indeed Nathan. It was true, her older brother was dead. McKenna turned and ran to the back. She held the bracelet tightly. Once she was alone she slide down against the wall next to the bookshelf and she cried.
